An opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias to join our team at Preston. The Successful Applicant Will • Possess a cooperative work ethic and strong teamworking skills. • Have broad knowledge of electrical systems and installation methods, with particular emphasis on manufacturing and feed milling processes. • Demonstrate a solid understanding of control and distribution circuits, including the ability to read and update electrical drawings. • Have experience with plant control systems and PLCs (Allen Bradley and Mitsubishi preferred) and be confident diagnosing faults. • Show a basic understanding of mechanical principles and a willingness to work across disciplines. • Be a time-served electrical apprentice and/or hold relevant electrical, HVAC, or building services qualifications. • Be trained to BS7671 18th Edition (candidates with 17th Edition and willingness to update will be considered). Main Duties • Maintain site equipment, machinery, electrical panels, and wiring on both a proactive and reactive basis. • Respond promptly to breakdowns and carry out effective fault-finding and repair. • Install new equipment and machinery, including wiring of power supplies and control circuits. • Collaborate with site management and the project team to design and implement improvements to existing equipment and processes. • Accurately record maintenance activities, breakdowns, and resolutions in the company CMMS software. • Support the maintenance supervisor and engineering team in maintaining an adequate stock of spare parts and materials. Candidates will need to demonstrate full appreciation of working within a culture that encourages teamwork and where Health & Safety considerations are first and foremost. The successful applicant will be practical and with good interpersonal skills. Candidates must live within reasonable commutable distance to our Preston site. On offer is a competitive wage together with excellent Terms & Conditions. The mill operates 24/7 and the maintenance rota is geared to support this, although some flexibility will be required. For the successful applicant the core working pattern will be 40 hours on a 5 day shift pattern, plus overtime, and will include on-call working on a rota basis for which enhanced payments are applicable.
