MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN - PLUMBER
Carbon60 is recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Technician - Plumber to support a healthcare facilities contract based in Glasgow.
ROLE: Mechanical Technician - Plumber
PAY RATE: £15.89 - £17.44 per hour (PAYE)
CONTRACT TYPE: Contract (9th March - 5th June)
LOCATION: Glasgow, Scotland (with flexibility to support other local healthcare sites in Glasgow)
WORKING PATTERN: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm (37.5 hours per week)
THE ROLE:
The Mechanical Technician - Plumber will be responsible for undertaking planned and reactive mechanical maintenance duties within a busy healthcare environment.
Working as part of a flexible maintenance team, you will support the safe and continuous operation of building systems, plant, and equipment, ensuring full compliance with health & safety and statutory regulations.
The role will be primarily based at Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow, with occasional travel to other local healthcare facilities if required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planned & Reactive Maintenance
* Undertake mechanical and plumbing maintenance tasks across site
* Carry out repairs, minor installations, and small project works
* Respond promptly to reactive breakdowns in line with SLA response times
* Participate in an on-call rota (1 week in 6 cycle) to ensure 24/7 cover
Building Services & Plant Maintenance
* Maintenance of AHUs, calorifiers, heat stations, and water systems
* Medical gas systems and pressure systems maintenance
* Legionella control measures and compliance checks
* Assist with confined spaces and low voltage safety procedures where required
Compliance & Documentation
* Work in line with statutory regulations and Scottish Health Technical Memoranda (SHTM)
* Produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements as required
* Complete works reports, certification, and electronic documentation
* Operate under Permit-to-Work systems and safe working procedures
Team & Client Liaison
* Liaise professionally with site management and NHS stakeholders
* Support colleagues and external contractors as required
* Maintain tools, workshops, and storage areas in a clean and safe condition
* Uphold high standards of presentation when working in clinical environments
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Completed a recognised Plumbing Apprenticeship
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance
* Experience working on building services systems and plant equipment
* Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations and safe systems of work
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Willingness to participate in on-call rota and overtime when required
Desirable (Not Essential):
* Previous hospital or healthcare maintenance experience
* Knowledge of SHTM guidance, L8, Pressure Systems Regulations 2000
* First Aid / CPR training (training can be provided if not held)
