Mechanical Engineer Dayshift | Monday to Friday About the Rol e We are seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanical Engineer to join a large UK based industrial manufacturing team. This role is essential to the build, repair, overhaul, and maintenance of industrial gearboxes, rotating equipment, and associated mechanical systems. Key Responsibilities Strip down, inspect, and rebuild industrial gearboxes, motors, and other rotating equipment. Perform diagnostics, mechanical fault-finding, and root cause analysis on failing machinery and drive systems. Undertake precise fitting, alignment, and assembly of mechanical components, including shafts, bearings, seals, and gears. Conduct mechanical repairs both in-house and on customer sites, ensuring high standards of quality and safety. Liaise with the design, production, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless operations and minimal downtime. Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance using internal systems. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve performance, efficiency, and safety. Adhere to all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures About You Time-served or formally qualified Mechanical Engineer (HNC/HND or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or similar). Proven experience in gearbox assembly and repair, ideally in an industrial or manufacturing setting. Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including bearings, gear trains, shafts, seals, and lubrication systems. Familiarity with workshop tools and equipment such as presses, grinders, micrometers, dial indicators, and torque wrenches. Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation. Comfortable working independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Full UK driving license (preferred for field-based repair work).
