A warm and welcoming school in Hemel Hempstead is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. The school is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where pupils with diverse needs are supported to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.
About the Role
This full-time, term-time position is perfect for someone who is empathetic, proactive, and eager to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with SEN. You will work closely with pupils and teaching staff to support personalised learning plans, promote positive behaviour, and help create an environment that caters to each child’s unique needs.
Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and other specific needs.
* Assist in delivering SEN-focused activities and adapting classroom resources to ensure accessibility.
* Support pupils with their individual learning plans, helping them progress and overcome barriers.
* Encourage social interaction, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour.
* Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to provide consistent support.
* Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and accessible learning environment.
* Keep accurate records of pupil progress and contribute to reviews and meetings.
What We’re Looking For
* Experience supporting children with SEN is highly desirable.
* A patient, calm, and compassionate approach.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Commitment to helping children achieve their personal best.
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
* SEN-related training or qualifications (desirable but not essential).
