Frimley Health NHS Trust is expanding the Skin Cancer team and is looking to recruit a nurse with enthusiasm to learn new skills and develop our service.
The role focuses on providing holistic, evidence-based, individualised care for skin cancer patients in an outpatient setting, supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team, including senior members of the skin cancer nursing and Plastic Surgery teams.
Expectations include completing relevant training and development (internal and external) to gain the knowledge and clinical expertise required to care for post-operative skin cancer patients.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will contribute to the development and ongoing evaluation of the skin cancer service, ensuring continuous improvement and high standards of patient care. This includes participating in audits and reviewing the national cancer patient experience survey to inform service improvements.
You will support the delivery of a nurse-led, holistic, and evidence-based service, tailored to meet the individual needs of skin cancer patients through personalised care and support planning. The role requires strong knowledge of skin cancer and excellent communication skills to engage effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
You will work independently to assess, plan, and deliver care, while collaborating within an integrated team to ensure seamless patient pathways. A key responsibility is post-surgical wound assessment and dressing management, with an expectation to develop and maintain competence in these clinical skills through ongoing learning.
The post-holder will also contribute to patient education, promote self-management, and support patients emotionally throughout their care journey. Commitment to professional development and adherence to clinical governance standards are essential to ensure the service remains responsive and patient-centred.
