Synthetic Research Chemist required on a permanent basis, based in Manchester. Requiring a PhD in synthetic chemistry, with proven experience of multi-step chemical synthesis and designing new synthetic routes. Recent, proven industrial experience of synthetic chemistry is desirable, but not essential. Candidates who hold a MSc in chemistry and significant industrial experience of synthetic chemistry may also be considered.

SRG are working with an innovative and highly successful company who create and develop speciality chemical products and intermediates, which are used in a range of industries. They are now looking for a Synthetic Research Chemist to join the lab team at their site in Manchester. This role will see the successful individual planning and designing synthetic routes to synthesise intermediates and speciality chemical compounds and carrying out practical synthetic chemistry ranging from gram to kilogram scales. Ideal candidates will have completed a PhD in synthetic chemistry, with experience of multi-step synthesis and designing new synthetic routes. This role may also suit candidates with a MSc in Chemistry and recent, significant industrial experience of synthetic chemistry.

Support in the development of new speciality chemical compounds and intermediates
Plan and devise new synthetic chemical routes for speciality chemical products and intermediates
Research new chemical processes to improve yields and purities of both new and existing speciality chemical products
Undertake practical synthetic chemistry between gram and kilogram scales
Keep up-to-date with chemistry literature and the synthetic chemistry market
Minimum degree in Chemistry
Recent PhD graduates are encouraged to apply
