Job Title: Civils General Foreman - Northern England
Package: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum
I am recruiting on behalf of my client, a leading civil engineering contractor operating across Scotland and Northern England. Due to ongoing success and a strong pipeline of infrastructure work, they are looking to appoint an experienced General Foreman to support the delivery of complex heavy civils projects across their Northern England sites.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with a strong background in earthworks, drainage, concrete structures, and other heavy civils activities within the energy or marine sectors, and who is happy to work across multiple sites in Northern England. Accommodation and subsistence are provided when working away from home.
Responsibilities:
· Supervise daily site operations and lead site teams to ensure safe, efficient delivery of works
· Coordinate plant, labour, and materials in line with the programme and site requirements
· Ensure all works are carried out in line with design drawings, method statements, and health & safety standards
· Monitor productivity, progress, and quality of work, reporting any issues to the management team
· Work closely with engineers and subcontractors to deliver planned works on time and to the required spec
· Promote a strong safety culture on site and ensure toolbox talks, briefings, and safety checks are carried out regularly
· Maintain accurate site diaries and daily records
· Support the Site Agent/Sub Agent with short-term planning, logistics, and sequencing of works
Requirements:
· Proven experience as a General Foreman or Works Manager on heavy civils projects - ideally within energy or marine infrastructure
· Strong working knowledge of earthworks, drainage, RC works, and general civils construction methods
· Capable of reading technical drawings and understanding construction specifications
· Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and direct site teams
· CSCS card and SSSTS or SMSTS essential
· First Aid and Temporary Works awareness desirable
· NVQ Level 3/4 or equivalent in Construction or Civil Engineering preferred
· Full UK Driving Licence
· Willingness to travel across sites in Northern England/South Scotland
Package:
· £50,000 - £55,000 depending on experience
· Car allowance + mileage
· Accommodation & subsistence covered when working away
