About the role

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant (Band 4) you will be part of the Paediatric Occupational Therapy service and work in a range of settings including the community, schools and in clinics with children and young people who have a range of developmental needs and/or neurological disorders.

You would be part of a welcoming Occupational Therapy team with a range of clinical and community expertise and experience. We are a friendly and sociable team who have close links with a number of other interdisciplinary services including; Social Care Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Paediatricians.

The role of the Occupational Therapy Assistant is to:

2. Plan, provide and implement occupational therapy programmes tailored to the needs of children and young people within the framework recommended by the OT
3. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, with families, carers and other professionals to maintain a holistic view of the child or young person.
4. To provide advice and support jointly with other relevant professionals
5. To support the occupational therapy team with admin tasks such as arranging appointments, cataloguing and ordering equipment.

About you

You will need to have an interest in and/or prior experience in working in a childcare setting as well as the drive and determination to deliver high quality intervention to children and young people.

You will be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people as well as demonstrating the following:

6. The ability to work autonomously and to be responsible for a caseload under supervision of a HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
7. The ability to undertake therapeutic interventions that support children and young people to engage in occupations that promote their independence and skills development.
8. The ability to implement activities devised by a qualified Occupational Therapist to achieve agreed goals and to contribute to the evaluation of their effectiveness.
9. The ability to work within agreed protocols, facilitating and implementing individual or group work as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
10. The ability to monitor the child or young person’s progress, taking account of their environment and changing needs.
