Teaching Personnel is seeking enthusiastic English Literature students or graduates to support pupils in secondary schools across Durham. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands on classroom experience while helping students develop essential reading and writing skills, perfect for those considering careers in education, publishing, speech and language, or literacy support. What you'll be doing: Supporting pupils in developing reading, writing, and comprehension skills Working one to one or with small groups to improve literacy attainment Helping students with spelling, grammar, essay writing, and creative writing tasks Encouraging a love of literature and critical thinking Supporting guided reading sessions and classroom literacy activities Assisting teachers in delivering engaging English lessons Helping create a positive, inclusive, and language rich learning environment You need: English Literature student or graduate (or related degrees such as English Language) Passion for reading, writing, and promoting literacy Strong written and verbal communication skills Patient, supportive, and enthusiastic approach Experience working with children is beneficial but not essential This is an excellent opportunity for English Literature students or graduates looking for flexible and rewarding work in secondary schools, while making a real difference in helping students build confidence in reading and writing.
