If so, then this role may be ideal for you.

A Specialist SEN School in Salisbury is looking for a new Mental Health Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis as soon as possible. The school caters to students with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs, such as children with attachment disorders, trauma, moderate learning difficulties and anxiety disorders.

As a Mental Health Assistant within a school, you will be responsible for supporting the students throughout the day on a 1:1 and small group basis. You will follow therapeutic practices and behaviour management to ensure that a calm and safe learning environment is maintained. You will also provide general classroom assistance to the class teacher, and liaise with on- site specialists to ensure that each student receives the best quality care and education.

This is a great opportunity for a graduate or aspiring psychologist to gain hands-on experience with children who face difficulties in accessing education sue to complex and mental health needs. You will gain a direct insight into how Special Educational Needs manifest and how therapeutic and tailored practices can help children get the most out of their education

The school are looking for a School Mental Health Assistant who is enthusiastic, resilient and passionate about supporting children with SEN and SEMH needs. xsngvjr Previous experience working with children is highly desirable, but the right attitude and willingness to learn is most important.
