Overview
Within NHS England, South East Region, the Thames Valley Local Office is responsible for planning, development, education and training of the future and current healthcare and public health workforce across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. An opportunity has arisen for a consultant with a strong interest in medical education and training to serve as the Training Programme Director in Chemical Pathology.
Responsibilities
* Work with the Head of School to lead the delivery of a wide range of functions aligned to the NHS England mandate.
* Focus on improving learner supervision, assessment, and experience; engage faculty and ensure effective educational outcomes now and in the future.
* Develop whole workforce transformation initiatives and create multi‑professional links.
* Contribute to the evolving role of Chemical Pathology training within the region.
Qualifications
* Current STC member or individual with a demonstrated interest in education and training within the specialty.
* Experienced NHS consultant with a thorough understanding of Chemical Pathology training across the region.
* Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to work effectively as a member of a multi‑professional team.
Benefits and Conditions
* Fixed level of funding contribution of £2,500 per annum as an Educational Management Contribution (EMC). 0.25 EMC has been allocated for this role.
* The position is on secondment; the responsible Trust will seek the necessary agreement with the applicant’s current employer prior to application submission.
* Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in‑person.
