An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a Building Services (MEP) team based in Nottingham. This Senior Mechanical Engineer role sits within a multidisciplinary consultancy delivering engineering, environmental and infrastructure solutions across the UK and internationally.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will support the delivery of mechanical building services across sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare, education and infrastructure.
Role Overview – Senior Mechanical Engineer
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, coordination and delivery of mechanical building services systems across multiple project stages.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work within a multidisciplinary environment, collaborating with electrical engineers, BIM technicians and other disciplines to deliver coordinated mechanical design solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems including HVAC, heating, cooling and ventilation
Producing calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation
Coordinating mechanical design with electrical, public health, structural and architectural teams
Supporting project delivery from concept through to detailed design and construction
Ensuring compliance with relevant standards and best practice guidance
Working within a BIM environment using Autodesk Revit in collaboration with technicians
Attending client and design team meetings representing the mechanical discipline
Contributing to low-carbon and energy-efficient design strategies
Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and technicians
Assisting with project planning, resource management and delivery to programme and budget
Skills and Experience Required – Senior Mechanical Engineer
To be considered for this Senior Mechanical Engineer position, you should have:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
Proven experience in mechanical design within a Building Services (MEP) consultancy environment
Strong understanding of HVAC systems and building services design principles
Experience working across multiple project stages
Ability to deliver projects independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and client-facing skills
Experience working within multidisciplinary design teams
Desirable Skills
Working towards or achieved Chartered Engineer status (CIBSE or equivalent)
Experience using BIM and Autodesk Revit
Knowledge of sustainable design, decarbonisation and energy modelling principles
Experience within a multidisciplinary consultancy environment
