Overview
Lodge Park Academy is recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant. This role supports individual students with special educational needs, helps maintain good order, and keeps pupils on task to reach their full academic potential. You will support safeguarding and promote the welfare of children and young people, using specialist skills to assist learning, with emphasis on students below literacy age-related expectations and those requiring tests and assessments in areas such as reading or dyslexia.
Working under the leadership of the Assistant SENDCo, you will join a team focused on students’ happiness and success, with a commitment to meticulous care to ensure every child is safe, happy and learning.
Contract: Permanent, 34.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. Early applications are advised as the vacancy may close before the closing date when sufficient applications have been reviewed.
Responsibilities
* Support individual students with special educational needs and help maintain focus and behavior for learning.
* Support the development and implementation of Pupil Profiles.
* Establish productive working relationships with students, model high expectations, and support safeguarding and welfare requirements.
* Use specialist curricular/learning skills and training to assist students, including those below age-related literacy expectations and those requiring assessments in reading, dyslexia, etc.
Qualifications
* NVQ 3 Qualified or equivalent relating to supporting teaching and learning in schools
* GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
* Experience working with children in an education setting
* Experience supporting students who have difficulty in reading and writing
* Aware of when it is appropriate to consult teachers about a child’s behaviour or learning
* Ability to motivate and encourage children to meet learning targets
