Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 Full Time
Working Style: Your workstyle will be a mobile hybrid worker in this role which gives you the flexibility to work from home and from a variety of Council workplaces.
We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a legal safeguarding paralegal. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support of the Safeguarding Lawyers in all Child and Adult Protection and Care and Support matters.
As a legal safeguarding paralegal the main duties of the post are as follows;
General Duties
Assist in:-
1. the preparation of witness statements for court proceedings.
2. the instruction of experts and counsel.
3. the drafting of court documents under the supervision of Safeguarding lawyers.
4. the filing and serving of court documents.
Liaison with clients and witnesses in relation to their evidence and attendance at court proceedings.
Maintenance of records and systems
Such other duties and responsibilities as are from time to time required by the Team and within the capabilities of the postholder.
5. Inevitably there needs to be an element of flexibility in allocating areas of responsibility between post holders within the Unit/and the Division from time to time, to enable the particular skills and expertise of individual post holders to be maximised to the mutual benefit of all concerned. This is an outline description of the job as it presently exists. The job description will be examined periodically and updated to ensure that it relates to the job as then being performed or to incorporate any changes that are proposed by the Authority. Any such changes will be subject to consultation with the post holder. It will be the Authority’s aim to reach agreement to reasonable changes. If agreement is not possible, the Authority reserves the right to insist on changes, following consultation.

About you:
Do you have:
You will have experience in/of;
Experience in child and adult social services work, including public law
proceedings
(i) Technical competence in the skills involved in the post.
(ii) An understanding of the legal process and the ability to work as part of a team.
(iii) Excellent communication skills
(iv) Competence in use of IT for word processing and communication purposes, with good keyboard skills
(v) Familiarity with IT based time recording, pdf Handling and case management systems
(vi) Previous experience in child or adult public law
Ideally you will have;
Education to degree level or equivalent higher education qualification, or
substantial experience at a level involving responsibility for prioritising
work and demonstrable ability to acquire new skills and knowledge Law Qualification
