Regional Laboratory Manager - Assisted Reproduction
An established fertility provider is seeking an experienced Regional Laboratory Manager to lead two clinics and drive high-quality, patient‑centred laboratory services. This role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on clinical embryology, contributing directly to patient outcomes while shaping the development of laboratory teams across the region.
About the Role
You'll oversee two laboratories, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant clinical practice. Around 80% of the role is management-focused, with the remaining time dedicated to clinical embryology. You will work closely with senior clinic leaders, contribute to service development, and support wider organisational initiatives.
This is a full‑time, on-site role across two regional clinics, with one remote working day per week. Some weekend/on‑call work may be required.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
Lead and support multidisciplinary laboratory teams across two sites.
Promote a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Mentor junior staff and oversee training, competency, and performance management.
Clinical Practice
Perform the full range of embryology and andrology procedures, including ICSI, embryo culture, transfer, cryopreservation, and donor screening.
Provide clear and empathetic communication to patients regarding results and treatment options.
Ensure accurate documentation, witnessing, and traceability at all stages.
Quality & Compliance
Maintain exemplary standards of regulatory compliance and laboratory governance.
Oversee audits, non-conformities, risk management, and corrective actions.
Lead laboratory preparations for regulatory inspections.
Monitor performance indicators and implement improvement plans.
Operational & Resource Management
Ensure equipment maintenance, validation, and safe operation across both sites.
Manage rotas, staffing levels, and skill mix.
Oversee consumables, budgets, capital planning, and resource allocation.
Communication & Collaboration
Represent the laboratory function at clinic management meetings.
Lead regional lab meetings and contribute to organisation-wide projects.
Support patient information events and professional conferences.
What You'll Bring
Essential
Degree in a Life Sciences discipline.
HCPC registration.
At least 10 years' clinical embryology experience, including leadership responsibilities.
Strong understanding of HFEA regulations, quality systems, and laboratory governance.
Experience training and developing staff.
Desirable
MSc/PhD or additional professional certifications.
Experience in PGT.
Quality management training.
