We're looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join a growing team in Manchester. This is a hybrid role, offering flexibility while still being hands-on in a multi-tenant network environment.
The Role
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and troubleshooting networking and virtualised environments, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
You’ll play a key role in firewall migrations, disaster recovery expansion, and transitioning the network towards high-availability cloud services.
This is a hands-on role that requires strong experience in VMware, firewalls, and Windows Server environments.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Managing and optimising VMware environments (vSphere, vSAN, NSX)
* Overseeing firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, BGP, and OSPF (Fortinet, Cisco, Palo Alto)
* Troubleshooting live networking and virtualisation issues
* Maintaining Windows Server & Active Directory environments
* Contributing to network security and compliance initiatives
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have Skills:
* VMware NSX, vSphere, vSAN – Strong hands-on experience
* Firewall expertise – Fortinet (preferred), Cisco, Palo Alto
* Networking protocols – VPNs, VLANs, BGP, OSPF
* Windows Server Administration – Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, RDS
* Live troubleshooting experience in high-availability environments
Nice-to-Have Skills:
* Automation & scripting (PowerShell, Python, Ansible)
