Job Summary:
This position serves as the Construction Services maintenance liaison for the Cave Unit and Discovery Center at Kartchner Caverns State Park. This position is a maintenance position. General repair, maintenance, construction, and troubleshooting of State Parks property, structures and equipment. May include carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, grounds-keeping, painting, welding, painting, equipment operation, and other relevant tasks. Maintain and protect natural and cultural resources. Ensures compliance with park policies, rules and regulations. Ensures public safety by enforcing park rules and regulations. May collect fees, conduct tours, or other similar duties based upon the needs of the park.
Job Duties:
- General repair, maintenance, construction, and troubleshooting of Kartchner Caverns State Park, structures and equipment. May include carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, grounds-keeping, painting, welding, painting, equipment operation, and other relevant tasks. Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry preparing surfaces and using brush/sprayer/roller to apply predetermined colors and mixtures, repair and replacement of wallboard, hang doors, replace ceiling and floor tiles.
- Custodial and routine/preventative maintenance tasks. Drives ASPT agency vehicles within the Regions assigned during the daily course of work activities.
- Administrative tasks, including time reporting and data collection/entry relevant to maintenance and repair procedures. May collect fees, conduct tours, or other similar duties based upon the needs of the park.
- Other Duties as assigned as related to the position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of:
Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used for maintenance and repairs in the construction field. Rules and policies governing work activities and safety equipment. Methods and techniques used in manual labor tasks. Methods and practices applied in generalized preventative maintenance and repairs.
General knowledge of basic and advanced maintenance procedures, knowledge of industry and trades standard practices relevant to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC etc
Skill in:
Skilled in common and general hand and power tools related to the scope of work (SOW).Reading and following verbal and written directions in the
SOW for maintenance and repairs. Applying and demonstrating the correct methods and practices of the general and manual labor to be completed. Determining materials needed for various activities and duties. Oral and written communications.
Equipment operation, computer skills, power tool operation and safety, troubleshooting, motor vehicle operation.
Ability to:
Ability to use basic oral and written communications for relaying information, findings with construction issues you may encounter in daily work activities. Realizing safe and unsafe work conditions in or around the work site. Be aware of your surroundings and who and or what may be in them.
Selective Preference(s):
One year of experience equivalent to a Building Maintenance Specialist, or two years of work experience in the construction field. Any combination of training or do it yourself experience that meet knowledge, skills and abilities may be submitted.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a current Arizona License appropriate to assignment and retention of said license during the period of employment.

Retirement:
Eligible for Arizona State Retirement System pension. Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment for newly hired State of Arizona employees.
