We are recruiting for an experienced and driven Operations Manager to join a thriving and fast-growing bike park based in Mid Wales, at the heart of a passionate MTB community. Since launching in 2019, the park has grown rapidly and now welcomes up to 800 riders each weekend. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of a dynamic outdoor business with ambitious growth plans.
This is a hands-on and strategic position requiring a highly organised, people-focused individual who can confidently manage day-to-day operations while contributing to long-term development.
You will work closely with senior leadership and fellow managers to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable operations, while maintaining an exceptional visitor experience and the authenticity of the park’s MTB offering.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the day-to-day running of the park, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of visitors and staff
* Oversee facilities, uplift operations, events delivery, and general site efficiency
* Ensure full compliance with safety protocols, risk assessments, and operational procedures
* Drive profitability through operational efficiency and cost control
* Support business growth by ensuring appropriate resources and infrastructure are in place
* Produce weekly reports including visitor numbers, financial performance, and key metrics
* Work closely with the medical team to ensure effective injury management processes
* Act as Incident Commander during emergencies
* Take on Duty Manager responsibilities as required, including weekends and Bank Holidays
* Proactively manage the on-site guest experience to drive positive reviews and repeat visits
* Recruit, train, and motivate a diverse team, including rota management and performance support
Requirements
Essential:
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail and data-driven decision-making
* Proven experience managing a high-quality visitor attraction or similar environment
* Demonstrated experience leading and motivating teams
* Strong understanding of the MTB and/or outdoor sector
* IT literate (Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new systems)
* Flexible and adaptable, with availability to work weekends
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
* IOSH Managing Safely and/or NEBOSH National General Certificate
* MTB riding experience
* Outdoor First Aid qualification
* Forestry or land management experience
* Welsh language skills
Additional Information
* This is a fully site-based role in Machynlleth (no remote or hybrid working available)
* You will be required to take on Duty Manager responsibilities in line with business needs
