Job Description
Performance and Reliability Technician
Ashford - £54,075 (Days - Permanent contract)
Your New Role
In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the scalability, performance, and reliability of our systems and applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve bottlenecks, optimise system performance, and implement strategies to ensure continuous availability and fault tolerance.
What you’ll be doing
Performance Analysis & Optimisation
* Monitor, analyse, and report on system performance to ensure optimal operation.
* Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in the system to achieve high availability of parts.
* Collaborate with all stakeholders to diagnose performance issues with parts supplied and supplier quality.
* On a monthly rotation collate, communicate, and report on all system reliability paying particular attention to supplier quality.
* Collaborate with the Support Engineers on performance improvements.
Reliability Engineering
* Design and implement strategies to ensure system reliability, including redundancy, and disaster recovery.
* Apply SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) best practices to ensure system stability.
* Create and maintain monitoring systems and dashboards for real-time tracking of system performance and availability.
* Define and automate alerting systems to detect anomalies and resolve incidents quickly.
* Proactively identify performance risks and recommend solutions to mitigate them.
* Provide technical guidance to the customer when requested and share best practices.
* Carry out fault finding activities when requested.
* Support in all other Engineering activities when required.
About you
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
* Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities and a continuous improvement mindset.
Qualifications
* HNC/D or proven equivalent railway experience with a focus on improving reliability and availability.
Behavioural
* Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, UK rolling stock rules and regulations.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times.
* Good team worker.
Licences / Competences
* Previous experience in monitoring and performance analysis.
