Based at Chelmsford, Essex Police Headquarters, this hands-on role offers a mix of fieldwork and office-based tasks. You\'ll play a vital part in supporting our Officers and staff across Essex Police sites, with some occasional visits to Kent-based locations.
Responsibilities
* Two permanent opportunities to join the customer-focused technical IT Field Operations team, working across a wide range of technologies and applications on Windows 10 and 11.
* Gain exposure to the latest laptop and desktop hardware and software, and Video Conferencing Solutions, supporting Police Officers, Staff and Volunteers across Essex.
* Support all Essex Police sites across the county; day-to-day duties include driving and attending Police Stations and other sites to provide on-site, face-to-face IT support to Police Officers and Staff.
* Ensure users have the necessary IT equipment to perform their duties.
* Role involves a full valid manual UK driving licence and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Provide support at the office drop-in repair centre at Essex Force Headquarters in Chelmsford, Essex, and manage IT equipment moves and changes around the County, including manual handling of IT and video conferencing equipment.
* Support frontline officers and staff with patience, tact, and positivity, addressing technical requirements, installations, and repairs.
* Be adaptable, self-motivated, and enthusiastic; prior IT environment experience is desirable but not required if you have a passion for IT, strong problem-solving and a logical mindset.
* Understanding or familiarity with Microsoft products is key; willingness to learn appropriate technical skills quickly.
Essential Skills
* Effective communication skills, preferably from a customer service environment, with a good standard of English; ability to interact, cooperate, collaborate, and manage conflicts to complete tasks and achieve shared goals.
* Evidence of diagnostic skills and logical problem-solving.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Windows 10 and 11, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, pressurised environment and remotely with tight timescales, prioritise workloads, and use initiative.
Desirable Skills/Knowledge
* Basic awareness of Microsoft Active Directory and networking; diagnostic and hardware skills related to AV (Video Conference) equipment and printer/MFD.
* SharePoint and Office 365 awareness.
* Understanding ITIL principles in a support services context.
Standard Office hours are 08:00 - 16:00 Monday to Friday; flexibility to work outside core hours may be required to meet operation needs.
Please note: Salary is graded, with the role offered at the starting grade salary point.
