About The Role
The role is offered on a permanent basis, and with a starting salary of £27,155 (£28,106 from April 2026) (Band B) plus a Variable Hours Allowance of 11.25%. Working hours are 35 hours per week, four days on, two days off.
Scottish Canals offer a generous annual leave entitlement of 32 days, plus 6 public holidays, along with enhanced sick pay, discounted shopping vouchers, health cash plan and a contributory pension scheme with up to 10% employer contribution.
Primary Responsibilities Of The Role
* Assist with daily running of the kitchen.
* Daily preparation of ‘Grab & Go’ items, standard daily menu and specials.
* Work alongside the Head Chef and the front of house team to ensure the smooth running of the F&B offer, inclusive of events.
* Ensure health and safety records are kept up to date.
* Assist with food & beverage purchase, storage and stocktake.
* Assist with menu planning and manage COS in line with budgets.
* Maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
Qualifications And Knowledge Required
* Previous experience working in a similar role.
* Good communication and team working skills.
* Highly organised with excellent planning abilities.
* Able to work under pressure in a high‑paced environment.

* Experience in a similar role.
