Alvan Blanch designs, manufactures and exports large scale machinery for processing crops all around the world.
We're seeking an Project Engineer / Project Manager to take bespoke projects of up to £2m from sales handover through scoping, design, fabrication, procurement and shipping; to installation, commissioning and handover.
Location :
Based principally at head office in Chelworth SN16 9SG. Some travel to farm sites or events in UK; with potential for occasional travel to project sites overseas.
What you will be doing:
Project Management – from sales handover :
* Ensure a quality project is delivered on time; within budget and to the customer's expectations
* Become the customer's primary contact throughout project engineering process
* Ensure the design complies with the contractual and technical performance parameters - performing initial review of drawings
* Scheduling of the project – keeping track of all departments' and suppliers' lead times – identifying in advance delays or problems
* Supporting documentation such as drawings, instruction manuals, packing lists etc. are prepared
* Calling review meetings, minute taking and action issuing and followin
Order Processing:
* Tracking project cost against budgeted cost
* Negotiating with suppliers and providing details of procurements to Purchasing
* Issuing orders with BOMs on SAP/ ERP Manufacturing system
* Interface with Design, Production, Suppliers, Stores, Despatch and Freight Forwarders
* Performing final checks of all materials prior to packing
* Generating project packing lists & overseeing loading
Installation :
* Arranging resources for installation
* Compilation / review of technical reports from site
Commissioning / Handover :
* Documenting changes or improvements made
* Logging outstanding items ; managing through to completion
* Issuance of handover certificate
Warranty / Service :
* Remotely supporting warranty or after-sales technical issues
* Identifying spare parts requirements and costs
What you will need to succeed:
* Proven track record of delivering complex engineering projects for customers.
* A background in mechanical, controls or electrical engineering
* Excellent communication skills and experience of engaging with a range of stakeholders
* Ability to analyse complex constraints and find solutions to problems.
* Strong organisational skills.
* Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
* A team player, willing to "roll up their sleeves" to ensure success.
