Your Role
and What You'll Be Doing
We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Assistant Solicitor to join our Serious Injury (SI) team in the Manchester area, working on a serious injury caseload.
Serious personal injury can have a profound and life-changing impact on individuals and their families. At Irwin Mitchell, our Serious Injury teams don’t just handle compensation claims; we work closely with clients and their loved ones to ensure all rehabilitation and wider legal needs are supported. Our serious injury solicitors pride themselves on making a genuine difference, helping clients live their lives as fully as possible after a serious injury.
You will join our market-leading regional Serious Injury team, working alongside Legal Director, Steve Hill, and supporting the wider SI team. The team supports and advises adults and children who have sustained brain, spinal cord, amputation or other serious, life-changing injuries.
In this role, you’ll work closely with clients, providing exceptional legal advice to help achieve the best possible outcomes. As a key member of the Serious Injury team, you’ll contribute to area meetings and play an active role in helping the team meet its objectives. As an experienced solicitor within Serious Injury, you will also have the opportunity to train and mentor colleagues, with full support and guidance to help you develop.
Key Responsibilities:
· Receiving client instructions and delivering clear, accurate, and practical legal advice
· Managing your own caseload independently while supporting Partners and senior team members on complex, high-value matters
· Conducting case reviews to ensure accuracy and maintain the highest standards of legal service
About You
· 0–4 years PQE, ideally with some experience in Serious Injury cases.
· Strong commercial acumen with the confidence and drive to lead business development initiatives, building relationships and elevating the team’s market presence.
· Ambition, energy, and genuine enthusiasm for Personal Injury Law.
· Empathy and compassion to support clients through challenging personal circumstances
· A desire to spend time working in the office.
Our Benefits - What We Can Offer You
1. 25 days holidays as standard plus bank holidays - You can ‘buy’ up to 35hrs of extra holiday too.
2. Generous and flexible pension schemes.
3. Volunteering days – Two days of volunteering every year for a cause of your choice (fully paid)
4. Westfield Health membership, offering refunds on medical services alongside our Aviva Digital GP services.
We also offer a wide range of well-being initiatives to encourage positive mental health both in and out of the workplace and to make sure you’re fully supported.
