Overview
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council has a Team Manager opportunity in our Children & Families Team. This role leads a small team of social workers delivering social care services to children, young people and their families, including those on a child in need plan, child protection plan, or involvement in PLO and court proceedings. We are focused on achieving the best outcomes for children and young people and fostering an environment where social work practice is innovative, creative and supportive.
You will work to ensure high quality practice is delivered, provide compassionate leadership, and create a nurturing environment that supports staff and contributes to positive outcomes for children, families and communities. You will join a welcoming, supportive senior management team.
There is a £3,000 annual retention payment for Social Work Team Managers in Children’s Services as part of our rewards package.
Responsibilities
* Lead a small team of social workers responding to, coordinating and delivering social care services to children, young people and their families.
* Support and supervise practice to ensure high quality work and positive outcomes.
* Foster a compassionate, supportive leadership approach that enables effective and creative practice.
* Collaborate with colleagues and partner agencies to ensure comprehensive services for children and families.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of service improvement and safeguarding strategies.
Qualifications and Experience
* Have a relevant social work qualification
* Be registered with Social Work England
* Have substantial experience as a senior social worker or in a management level social work role
* Have a strong track record of overseeing staff and performance
* Have compassion and an understanding of the needs of children and families
* Have extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and practices
* Be an excellent communicator
