Subject Specialist Teacher – Secondary Schools
Middlesbrough
Full-time, Part-time & Long-term roles available

Got a subject you love teaching? The kind where you can’t help but go off on a passionate tangent halfway through a lesson… and the students actually stay with you? This could be right up your street.

We’re working with a number of secondary schools across Middlesbrough looking for subject specialist teachers to step into the classroom and make an impact where it matters most. Whether your thing is Maths, English, Science or beyond, we’ll match you with schools that value your expertise.

What you’ll be doing:

Teaching your specialist subject across KS3 and KS4
Delivering engaging lessons that get students thinking, not just copying
Building strong relationships that keep classrooms running smoothly
Bringing your subject to life, even on a rainy Tuesday afternoon

What we’re looking for:

Experience teaching your subject in a secondary setting (KS3/KS4 essential)
QTS is highly desirable, but we’re open to strong unqualified teachers with solid experience
Confident classroom presence and good behaviour management
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or happy to apply for one

Why you’ll want this:

Flexible roles to fit around you, from a few days a week to full-time placements
Long-term opportunities where you can really settle in
Schools that appreciate subject specialists and give you room to teach your way
If you’re not already Thrive trained, it’s well worth it. More and more schools are looking for teachers who can support students beyond academics, and we offer this training for free. It’s a great way to stand out and feel even more confident in the classroom.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.

We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.

Full assistance provided. For details of our privacy policy, please see visit the Protocol Education website
