Truro Fencing Club is seeking a full-time Head coach to lead its local coaching team and develop its future resilience and performance. The closing date is the 31st May 2025.

Truro Fencing Club is one of the most successful Sabre clubs in the UK, with a long history of winning national and international medals. Our fencers represent Great Britain in international events from the age of 14 to veteran level.
Truro Fencing Club is located in Cornwall, in Southwest England. Our fencing salle is in the grounds of Truro School and has 7 permanent pistes, an office, and a gym area.
We are committed to making all members feel welcome at Truro Fencing Club and providing an environment that is always safe, inclusive, challenging, and fun.
The Head Coach will be responsible for all Club programmes, from beginners courses, through to school clubs, community club sessions, talent ID and development programme, and High Performance training.
HEAD COACH REQUIREMENTS
* Excellent knowledge of technical/tactical Sabre skills, physical preparation, and current training methods.
* Experience at international level as a fencer and/or coach.
* Interest and experience in working with people of all ages
* A strong work ethic, integrity of character, and a good team player.
* Qualified to a minimum of British Fencing Level 2 Sabre, or overseas equivalent.
* Good communication skills in English.
* Full driving license and a car (to drive to school sessions, and sometimes to competitions).
JOB PROFILE
* Leading the direction and philosophy of the club; maintaining and improving standards in all areas of the club’s sessions and coaching; Athlete Management; liaising with support coaches, committee members, club volunteers, athletes, and parents of young fencers.
* Coaching and Preparation of athletes of all ages and abilities.
* Being an inspirational leader of Truro Fencing Club, and ensuring discipline and adherence to its rules and philosophy.
* Motivating support coaches and athletes to achieve their highest possible levels.
* Day-to-day responsibility for all club training sessions.
* Responsibility for the standards of coaching of all fencers at the club.
* Developing training plans and personal programmes for competition fencers, whilst ensuring a high-quality service to recreational and beginner fencers in all disciplines.
* Deliver group training sessions and individual lessons.
* Work across high-performance, youth, and veteran fencing, as well as with young pupils in the school programme.
* Prepare fencers for competition, and coach piste-side in domestic and international events.
* Design and lead the Coaching programme at Fencing camps such as Truro Summer Camp, Veteran Weekend Camps, half-term, and overseas camps.
