Health & Safety Advisor – United Utilities Framework
VolkerStevin, part of the VolkerWessels UK Group, is looking for an energetic Health & Safety Advisor to support Water Framework projects and ensure compliance with legislation and company procedures. The role involves working across projects from Preston to the North Lake District, championing safety culture, and building strong client relationships.
Key Accountabilities
* Carry out audits and inspections in line with the management system, client requirements, and subcontractor audits.
* Visit each allocated project at least twice a month: one support visit and one Monthly HSE Inspection via HSE App.
* Ensure and attend monthly HSEQ site meetings and pre-let/pre-start meetings as required by the HSEQ Manager.
* Support external audit requirements when requested.
* Assist project teams with investigations and root cause analysis for specific quality issues.
Site Support
* Act as an active member of the site team, providing guidance and supporting site activities such as initiatives and continual improvement projects.
Client Relations
* Liaise with relevant members of the client HSEQ team and Enterprise.
* Support the HSEQ Manager in developing strong client relations and attend meetings when required.
Behaviour Change
* Promote Ripple behavioural programmes and the VolkerStevin Way.
* Provide guidance to projects via meetings and support Ripple Implementation sessions.
Accident & Incident Investigations
* Carry out investigations as required by the VolkerStevin management system and client requirements.
* Update EcoOnline reporting and monitor site compliance, ensuring timely action closures.
Communication & Coordination
* Support HSEQ staff in content creation for communications and brief sites accordingly.
* Distribute safety alerts and other communications to the sites.
About You
* Demonstrable health and safety experience in civil engineering or construction.
* NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate in Construction Safety and Health or equivalent (Tech IOSH).
* CSCS card holder.
* Understanding of BS OHSAS 45001 requirements.
* Working knowledge of health & safety legislation and ACoP’s.
* Good interpersonal skills with the ability to guide and educate/train at all levels.
* Self‑confidence to build strong working relationships internally and externally.
