Responsibilities
The Teacher is expected to implement and use a wide range of teaching and learning strategies within the classroom, applying techniques such as Assessment for Learning (AfL) to continually improve student performance. A core duty involves effectively using student level data to identify areas for development and raise standards. The role requires maintaining high expectations for all students and effectively communicating with students and their parents, both orally and in writing. The teacher is expected to work collaboratively as part of a team, sharing good practice across the department, and demonstrating creativity in problem solving and a willingness to adopt new approaches.
* Use a variety of teaching and learning strategies relevant to Geography.
* Apply Assessment for Learning (AfL) to monitor and improve progress.
* Utilise student data to identify development areas and raise standards.
* Communicate effectively with students and parents, and work collaboratively with the department.
Qualifications
Essential: Degree in an appropriate discipline related to Geography and a teaching qualification with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Recent and relevant teaching experience and experience of assessment at Key Stage 3 and 4.
Proficiency in standard computer packages (word processing, email, spreadsheets) and the ability to use these tools to enhance student learning. Professionalism, the ability to relate well to students, and awareness of safeguarding issues.
