Role: Assistant Financial Accountant Location: London Job Type: Permanent, Full-time Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 Role Purpose Our client is seeking a part-qualified or newly qualified Financial Reporting Assistant Accountant to join their financial reporting team. This role will support a range of activities across the monthly close, group reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and statutory accounts preparation. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting robust reporting processes across the business. This is a hands-on role offering strong exposure to US GAAP reporting, UK GAAP statutory accounts, and interaction with external stakeholders, with clear scope for progression. Key Responsibilities for the Role: Preparation of monthly journals as part of the ledger close process, supporting a 7 to 8 day close cycle. Assist with the production of the monthly US GAAP group reported results. Assist with monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including bank accounts, prepayments, accruals, and intercompany balances. Preparation of monthly lead schedules and supporting documentation. Support the development of the Faster Claims Payment system and associated reconciliations. Assist with the production of quarterly VAT returns. Support the annual broker review process, including coverholder and DCA reviews. Assist with the preparation of year-end UK GAAP statutory accounts. Prepare audit schedules and supporting information for external auditors, acting as a key point of contact during the audit. Assist with the preparation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures documentation. Support quota share accounting and related data reconciliations. Maintain effective communication with external advisors, including auditors and tax advisors. Participate in finance projects and ad hoc finance tasks as required. What we are looking for: A hands-on accountant willing to complete both routine journals and reconciliations alongside statutory and reporting work. Part-qualified accountant looking to progress, or a newly qualified accountant comfortable operating at this level. Previous experience within a finance or reporting role. Knowledge of insurance accounting and or Lloyd's of London experience is desirable but not essential. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills. A collaborative approach and strong stakeholder management skills. What We Can Offer: Salary of £50,000 to £55,000 depending on experience. Full study support. Bonus scheme of 15 percent, rising to up to 30 percent if performance targets are exceeded.
