Job Description:
The role
To lead the Farming team through a time of significant change, both in terms of internal business developments and agricultural policy following the repatriation of policy to Westminster. The Head of Farming is responsible for creating and implementing the Company’s Farming business strategy in the short, medium, and long term.
Responsibilities
* Work with the Head of Rural to implement effective business plans and vision.
* Ensure delivery of the strategy and promote high performance within the Farming department.
* Drive business development by cultivating existing clients and establishing new ones.
* Manage client relationships personally.
* Collaborate with the Head of Rural to foster a culture of process improvement through training, communication, and system development.
* Achieve departmental budgets and reforecast as needed.
* Communicate financial information effectively within the team.
* Provide visionary and inspirational leadership.
* Communicate and promote the company’s vision, especially within rural and farming sectors.
* Work with HR and leadership to recruit and develop a high-performance team.
* Mentor and develop successors, identifying top talent.
* Embed a business development ethos across the business line.
* Model organizational behavior standards.
Person Specification
The candidate should be a strong communicator, highly numerate, adaptable, and flexible. They should be an experienced agriculturalist capable of representing Strutt & Parker with credibility, supporting and articulating the business vision, and creating effective plans to drive performance and measurable results.
Qualifications
* Degree in an agricultural discipline.
* MRICS and CAAV are optional but advantageous.
* BASIS and FACTS certifications are desirable but not required.
Experience
* Proven track record in the farming sector with strong consultancy and client management skills.
* Experience in team leadership with a proven ability to inspire performance and growth.
* Strong market profile as a leader and new business generator.
* Experience delivering presentations, reports, and commentary via various media including webinars and podcasts.
