Post Title: Care Assistant / Worker (Adult Social Care - 5a)

Job Type: Temporary

Location: HU13 9AR

Number of Positions: 5


Purpose of the Role

To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to adults in a residential care setting. The role is focused on promoting dignity, respect, independence, and wellbeing for service users, helping them live fulfilling and meaningful lives.


Responsibilities

* Person-Centred Care
o Work as part of a team to implement and follow person-centred Care and Support Plans.
o Support service users with personal care needs, including washing, bathing, dressing, toileting, and eating and drinking.
o Encourage and support service users to maintain independence and achieve personal goals.
* Social and Emotional Wellbeing
o Support and encourage service users to engage in meaningful activities that enhance their social and emotional wellbeing.
o Help service users maintain relationships with family, friends, and the community.
o Provide reassurance and emotional support to service users who may feel anxious or isolated.
* Daily Living and Domestic Support
o Assist with domestic tasks such as making beds, changing linen, cleaning, and maintaining a safe and tidy environment.
o Prepare and serve light meals, snacks, and beverages, assisting service users where needed.
o Use equipment and aids safely in accordance with procedures.
* Safety and Emergency Response
o Take immediate action in emergencies and summon appropriate support.
o Maintain awareness of fire safety procedures, escape routes, and emergency actions.
o Comply with health, safety, and safeguarding regulations at all times.
* Record Keeping and Communication
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records using approved electronic care recording systems.
o Communicate effectively and respectfully with service users, colleagues, and other professionals.
o Ensure confidentiality is respected at all times and information is shared only with those who have a right to access.
* Professional Development and Compliance
o Participate in relevant learning and development opportunities to maintain and enhance skills.
o Comply with all organisational policies, procedures, and legal frameworks, including safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity.
o Promote and safeguard the welfare of vulnerable adults in line with East Riding safeguarding procedures.
* Additional Duties
o Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the grade and level of responsibility of the post.


Required Experience and Qualifications

* Experience of working in adult social care or supporting service users with their care and support needs.
* Suitable to work with vulnerable adults and successful completion of an Enhanced DBS check.
* Ability to communicate effectively with compassion, empathy, and respect.
* Understanding of quality standards, policies, procedures, and best practice guidelines.
* Demonstrated ability to treat others with dignity and respect.
* Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and service users.
* Respect for confidentiality and the ability to maintain accurate records.
* Ability to use care-related equipment and aids safely.
* Basic IT skills to use electronic care recording systems.
* Reliable, trustworthy, and professional approach to work.
* Willingness to undertake mandatory training and continuous professional development.
* Ability to speak and understand English fluently to effectively perform the duties of the role.


Additional Information

* This role may involve flexible working, including weekends, evenings, and bank holidays.
* Full induction and training will be provided.
* Compliance with all Council policies, including safeguarding, health and safety, equality and diversity, is mandatory.
* The role involves promoting independence, dignity, and respect in every aspect of care delivery.
