About the Role
We are looking for a Standards Coordinator to join our Materials Engineering team and play a vital role in ensuring that Main Roads Materials Engineering standards, guidelines, methods and processes used across Western Australia are implemented effectively.
In this role you will coordinate, monitor, audit and assist in the adherence and implementation of the Main Roads Laboratory information management, including maintaining systems to record and analyse the construction materials project performance data.
You will also support the development and review of materials test methods, guidelines, procedures and standards and undertake research applicable to the development of these standards. You will also provide advice on auditing testing requirements and procedures and liaise with regional laboratories regarding materials and product testing.
Having the ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships is essential in this role, as you will be collaborating with internal teams, external partners, local government and community stakeholders.
Some of the key responsibilities:
1. Coordinate the scoping, development, maintenance and implementation of the Main Roads Laboratory Quality System Manual.
2. Monitor, audit and assist Main Roads laboratories to ensure compliance with the Laboratory Quality System and NATA requirements.
3. Liaise with laboratories and Directorates in the delivery of materials testing and project conformance audits.
4. Develop and maintain systems to record, analyse and report on materials testing and project audit data.
5. Build and maintain strong working relationships with Main Roads Directorates, the Transport Portfolio and external stakeholders.
6. Consult, negotiate and liaise with regional materials services, project delivery teams and external laboratories on laboratory standards and test methods.
We’re looking for someone with the following skillsets:
7. Has an Advanced Diploma in Laboratory Operations or a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of skills, knowledge and experience
8. Can interpret and apply NATA accreditation requirements
9. Have experience in pavements and road constructions materials testing, research and analysis
10. Be a strong negotiator with excellent liaison and stakeholder engagement skills
11. Have sound written communication and report writing skills
This role will be based in Perth Metropolitan (Welshpool); however, the successful candidate must be willing to undertake regional deployments for a period of time across the state.
