Secretary to the Trustees – Midlands
Step off the billable-hours treadmill. Join a growing, close-knit pensions team where quality comes first.
Are you an experienced Scheme Secretary who enjoys governance but not timesheets?
This is a rare opportunity to join an independent and client centred pensions business that’s growing organically and winning exciting new clients. Here, success isn’t measured in chargeable hours, it’s measured in relationships, outcomes, and the confidence you give trustees.
You’ll become a trusted partner to your schemes, working closely with trustees and advisers while enjoying the freedom to focus on doing things properly.
Why people join our client
People join because they want to do meaningful work without living by timesheets. They stay because they feel valued, trusted, and genuinely part of a close-knit team. Here, you’re not just another consultant, you’re a respected professional with ownership of your schemes, space to build real trustee relationships, and the support of experienced colleagues around you. With no billable hours targets and a growing pipeline of new work, you can focus on delivering high-quality governance while developing your career alongside a business that’s expanding organically.
Why this role is different
A business on the up
The firm is expanding naturally through reputation and referrals, not aggressive sales targets. You’ll join at an exciting stage of growth, with genuine opportunities to shape how things are done.
A close-knit, collaborative team
No corporate silos. No being “just a number.” You’ll be part of an experienced group who genuinely support one another and value your expertise.
Zero billable hours targets
Your performance is judged on the quality you deliver
Real ownership of your schemes
You’ll act as Secretary to a portfolio of UK occupational pension schemes (DB, DC or Hybrid), building long-term trustee relationships and becoming their go-to governance expert.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll sit at the heart of scheme management, ensuring everything runs smoothly and professionally:
* Planning and attending trustee and sub-committee meetings
* Preparing meeting packs, taking minutes, and managing action logs
* Maintaining governance documentation and audit-ready records
* Supporting buy-ins and other scheme projects
* Drafting trustee communications and newsletters
* Being a trusted sounding board for trustees on governance best practice
This is a role for someone who enjoys structure, detail, and responsibility while still being part of a team that has your back.
What’s in it for you?
* A culture that values people over timesheets
* Genuine autonomy and ownership of your work
* A growing firm with a strong pipeline of new business
* A supportive environment where your contribution is visible
* The chance to focus on governance excellence
If you’re ready to move into a role where quality, relationships, and professional pride come first, we’d love to hear from you.
