About the role We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Technical Manager to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee our quality assurance and food safety management systems, ensuring that all products meet the high standards of our customers and regulatory requirements. You will be instrumental in driving continuous improvement initiatives and leading quality enhancement projects across multiple sites. Your expertise will guide our technical quality team in establishing processes that uphold quality and safety standards while maintaining efficiency in production. You will also play a key role in liaising with customers, managing technical queries, and ensuring our product offerings continuously align with market needs. Key Responsibilities As the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring excellent standards of quality and food safety throughout our operations. Your responsibilities will include: Leading and managing the Quality Assurance team to ensure compliance with BRCGS standards and customer specifications. Implementing and maintaining validated quality management systems, whilst supporting site audits and inspections. Conducting investigations into product quality issues, developing corrective action plans to resolve them promptly. Collaborating with other departments to drive a company-wide culture of food safety and quality, ensuring teams are aligned with best practices. Monitoring and reporting on key quality metrics and the performance of quality management systems. Providing technical support for new product developments and improvements to existing products. Overseeing supplier quality assurance, including audits and evaluation of raw materials. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of legislative updates, food safety standards, and industry trends. Reporting & Communication Reporting directly to the Head of Technical, providing guidance and updates on all quality management initiatives. Liaising with customers to respond to technical inquiries and product-related issues. Facilitating training and development sessions for staff on food safety and quality procedures. Coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure effective implementation of quality protocols. Requirements Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a relevant scientific field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality management or technical role in food manufacturing. Proventrack record of developing and implementing quality assurance systems. Familiarity with BRCGS standards and HACCP principles. Experience in leading teams and managing cross-functional projects. Skills & Competencies Strong leadership and people management skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient in using quality management software and ERP systems. Knowledge In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and industry standards. Understanding of product development processes and quality control methods. Familiarity with sensory evaluation and product testing methodologies.
