Job Description
We’re hiring an experienced Fire Systems Engineer to join a skilled team delivering high-quality fire detection and alarm solutions across commercial and industrial projects. If you're hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about fire safety, this could be your next great move.
The Opportunity:
In this role, you'll be responsible for the full cycle of fire system works — from installation and commissioning through to maintenance and client handovers. You'll work across a variety of systems, including addressable and non-addressable alarms, air sampling, beam detection, and wireless technologies.
You’ll also collaborate closely with internal teams and external contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, safely, and to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities:
* Install, commission, and maintain fire alarm systems to BS5839 standards
* Work across a range of technologies and manufacturers
* Conduct client handovers, including demonstrations and user training
* Identify potential risks to project timelines and take proactive action
* Complete system documentation in line with FIA and BAFE requirements
* Supervise third-party contractors as needed (SSSTS certification required)
* Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed on site
* Mentor and support junior engineers where appropriate
* Provide technical input on system integration with other disciplines
What You’ll Need:
* 8+ years’ experience working with fire alarm systems
* FIA Advanced & Commissioning qualifications
* Deep knowledge of BS5839 (all parts)
* Ability to program cause & effect logic using a laptop
* Strong understanding of health & safety standards
* Comfortable working independently and in customer-facing environments
* Certifications: ECS/CSCS, IPAF, Asbestos Awareness, and SSSTS
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel, including overnight stays when required
