The Role & Department
* You will report directly to the Premises Manager or Site Supervisor, working as part of a collaborative team dedicated to school upkeep.
* The role is physically active and diverse; no two days are the same, ranging from reactive repairs to the logistical setup of major school events.
* This is an ideal position for someone with a background in manual trades or facilities who enjoys working in a community-focused environment.
* Shift patterns can vary, often involving early morning starts to prepare the site for the school day or evening shifts to support community lettings.

Core Responsibilities
1. Maintenance & DIY: Performing essential "first-fix" repairs, including minor plumbing, basic carpentry, painting, decorating, and furniture assembly.
2. Site Safety & Security: Assisting with the daily unlock/lock-up procedures of the school buildings and conducting regular perimeter checks to ensure a secure site.
3. Health & Safety Compliance: Carrying out routine safety checks, including testing fire alarms, monitoring water temperatures for Legionella prevention, and ensuring all escape routes are clear.
4. Logistics & Porterage: Moving furniture and equipment for assemblies, parents' evenings, and GCSE/A-Level exams, and managing the intake of heavy deliveries.
5. Grounds Maintenance: Keeping all external areas—including car parks, playgrounds, and walkways—clean and hazard-free, including gritting and snow clearance during winter.

The Successful Candidate We are looking for a reliable individual with a "can-do" attitude and a high level of practical skill. Requirements include:
* Experience: Previous experience in caretaking, site maintenance, or a construction trade (plumbing, joinery, or electrical) is highly advantageous.
* Physical Resilience: The ability to manage a large site, work at heights (ladder work), and perform heavy lifting safely.
* Problem Solving: A proactive approach to identifying potential hazards or maintenance issues before they escalate.
* Communication: A professional and helpful manner when interacting with teachers, students, and external contractors.
