Quantity Surveyor - 24 month contract - Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria - £55.82 ph UMB or £41.41 ph PAYE (Inside IR35)
The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). The Role
Use and maintain supply chain systems, processes and procedures to manage risks and opportunities and adopt tools & techniques that ensure delivery of common business & functional objectives
Role Responsibilities:

Direct or supportive role in subcontract /outsourcing decision making. Ongoing cost analysis and robust project / contract management during all phases.
Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks and ownership of the final account process.
Responsibility for management of commercial audit trails and implementing identified risk mitigation activities and opportunity realisation activities.
Plan, control and deliver all aspects of assigned projects, utilising the best practices documented within the Major Sub-Contract Process and ensure that any lessons learned are captured to constantly improve the process.
Ensure that any changes to the contract are controlled in accordance with the internal change procedures.
Lead or assist, as required, with strategic development on work package creation ensuring best value approach and challenging the accepted norm where required.
Assisting in establishing cross functional customer requirements and undertaking market place and contracting methodology feasibility studies and benchmarking that deliver in-depth understandings of cost drivers.
Utilisation of understanding of SQCDP issues to reduce duplication of activities, action and effort.
Management of the coherence reviews and liaison with the cross functional customers to determine the accuracy of the demarcation matrix, work scope and on-site operational activities, identifying weaknesses in approach and subsequent cost impact.
Providing support to Life Cycle costing exercises defining materials, activities and actions that will enable effective identification of full life cycle costs.
What are BAE Systems looking for from you?
5 years experience as QS
Experience with measurements/measuring
Able to attend site for a minimum of 3 days per week
Has preferably worked in a Construction environment
Security Requirements: SC & UK EYES ONLY
This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a BPSS check as part of this process. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC and you must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship and have lived and worked in the UK for a minimum 5 year period.
