This position is with a high-performing fixed income fund in London that is at the cutting edge of combining a data-driven approach with active portfolio management. As part of a wider growth plan, the fund is investing significant resources to build out their technology and quantitative teams. The tech team is involved in numerous projects, including building a new core trading system, developing trading tools with the quant and portfolio management teams, and applying machine learning techniques throughout the investment process.
The role involves working directly with quant analysts to develop software and tools supporting research and development projects, as well as larger projects supporting the wider business. The teams primarily work in Python, with the core system in C#, so candidates should be comfortable working in these languages or similar C-style languages such as C++, Java, or Go.
The fund fosters a collegiate environment, with developers involved in multiple projects simultaneously, participating in discussions, architecture, development, and support of existing software. They seek candidates who can assume immediate responsibilities and grow within the role.
Ideal candidates are high-performing, self-starting, pragmatic, and possess strong communication skills, given the interaction with various stakeholders, including the CTO. A passion for software development and a positive attitude are essential. Prior hedge fund experience is advantageous but not mandatory; candidates without financial experience but with domain knowledge are also considered. Experience in interest rate trading and statistical analysis is a plus.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful, collegiate fund with a progressive culture that values technology as a key to success.
Requirements:
1. Strong academic background in Computer Science or equivalent.
2. Significant experience developing software with large data sets.
3. Experience in systematic trading is highly regarded but not essential.
4. Experience with fixed income (interest rates) products is an advantage but not essential.
5. Proficiency in C#, C++, Java, Go, or Python.
6. At least 5 years of relevant work experience (more is acceptable).
7. A positive, pragmatic attitude.
Due to demand, the role is advertised anonymously. Interested candidates can send a blank application to be contacted for further discussion. Only highly qualified candidates will receive responses.
