Based within the Radiology department at Withybush General Hospital in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire; our service performs a comprehensive range of ultrasound investigations using state-of-the-art equipment, with all systems recently upgraded. The role is within Hywel Dda University Health Board which plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and bordering counties.
Responsibilities
* Be responsible for scanning patients and producing independent reports of these scans in line with departmental guidelines.
* Take an active role in teaching and practical training of student Sonographers and others in training.
* Participate in the audit and clinical governance programs within the department.
* Communicate with patients, their relatives, and others about the purpose of examinations and scan results (in line with departmental guidelines).
* Develop own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others, identifying training needs to the Lead Sonographer.
* Plan and prioritise own workload and that of the area to ensure efficient workflow, minimize waiting times, and maintain a high standard of service delivery.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Registered Health Professional with an appropriate postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound and evidence of relevant experience.
* Degree or equivalent diploma; Case Accredited postgraduate certificate or diploma at masters level in Ultrasound.
* HCPC, RCT or registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., NMC, RCN, RCM).
* Sound professional knowledge of imaging modalities (e.g., ANC/TV scanning, non-obstetric scanning).
* Evidence of current CPD portfolio.
Desirable
* Highly specialist training in ultrasound; developed knowledge in areas such as small parts or vascular.
* Experience with specialist ultrasound imaging techniques and with digital/PACS-enabled ultrasound equipment.
Other
* Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner; flexible approach to service needs.
* Willingness to participate in out-of-hours working.
* Welsh language skills (Level 1) are desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are welcome to apply.
