AIR SAFETY RISK MANAGER
The position of Air Safety Risk Manager (ASRM) will be filled within the 2nd Flying Training School (2 FTS) at RAF Syerston. The ASRM will report to the Air Safety Manager and advise the 2 FTS Command on all matters relating to air‑safety risk, maintaining the highest standards of safety for all air activity across the nine 2 FTS units.
Key Responsibilities
* Risk Management: Oversee the day‑to‑day operation of all Platform BowTie (BT) within 2 FTS, keep the BT set relevant and mature, conduct BT reviews, analyse SIRs and add BowTie comments to DASORs.
* Assurance: Assist with the conduct of Air Safety Assurance Visits to 2 FTS flying units.
* Occurrence Management: Where required, conduct the initial management of AS reports.
* Assist in completing assurance and safety training across the nine UK 2 FTS units.
* Work occasional weekends and travel across the UK as needed.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
* Current or former Flight Lieutenant (any profession) or Master Aircrew/Warrant Officer (any profession) with an NSV Security Check.
* Strong analytical and risk‑management abilities.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Flexibility to travel and work occasional weekends.
* Qualification to meet RAF medical requirements for a reserve posting.
Desirable Skills
* Experience working in an Air Safety environment.
* Experience using the BowTie server.
* Experience in airfield operations.

This role is open until 08 May 2026 and will commence as early as 07 September 2026 (subject to appointment and establishment variation). Applicants must meet the regulatory requirements for medical fitness, security clearance and be able to commit to the TCoS criteria.
