The primary purpose of this newly created position is to support the International Tax team on a broad range of tax matters across EMEA including, M&A, special projects, transfer pricing, tax controversy and, to a lesser extent, direct tax compliance and US GAAP tax reporting.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a wide variety of international tax issues. The ideal candidate is a natural problem-solver, resourceful and proactive but able to recognise when to escalate issues or seek guidance. The role requires someone who is comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and who thrives when collaborating with teams across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
1. Support the International Tax team on special projects including international business expansion, restructurings, mergers and acquisitions
2. Provide tax guidance for international contracts, transactions, and strategic initiatives
3. Assess impact of emerging jurisdictional, regional and global tax rules
4. Manage and respond to tax authority interventions across various jurisdictions
5. Assist with the preparation of transfer pricing documentation and related matters
6. Partner with Finance, Legal, HR, Treasury, and business units on tax matters
7. Develop successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders (incl. tax authorities)
8. Provide tax advice to senior stakeholders across the business on a range of tax matters
9. Assist in the preparation and analysis of the Company’s income tax provision across certain jurisdictions for US GAAP and local GAAP financial reporting
10. Oversight and management of direct tax filings and payment obligations in certain jurisdictions
Qualifications/Education
11. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance or law from an accredited college/university
12. Licensed CPA/CA/CTA or similar
Experience
13. Minimum three years tax experience in industry and/or in a public accounting firm;
14. Insurance industry experience is an advantage but not essential
15. Experience and knowledge of tax reporting within the framework of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS financial reporting is desired but not essential
16. While primarily a direct tax role, the ability to identify indirect tax and employee tax issues is important given the coverage of this role
17. Ability to research and apply tax law to business transactions and strong project management skills
18. Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
19. Possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
