Research Management & Governance Officer
Location: Joint Research Management Office (JRMO), Dept W, 81 Mile End Rd, London E1 4UJ. Band 5. Permanent, full-time. Salary: £37,259 to £45,356 per annum (including allowances).
Overview
The JRMO is a joint office which manages clinical research on behalf of Barts Health NHS Trust and Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). This role supports researchers in study setup, submission of study applications, sponsorship review, and confirmation of capacity & capability reviews, including administration of all amendments within JRMO systems. The post sits within the RM&G team and provides guidance to the research community at Barts Health NHS Trust and QMUL, with a focus on high-quality data management and productive collaboration across the organisations.
Responsibilities
* Support researchers in study setup and submission of study applications.
* Assist with sponsorship review and capacity & capability reviews, including administration of amendments in JRMO systems.
* Administer the approvals system for research at Barts Health NHS Trust and QMUL.
* Provide high-quality data management for studies and support regulatory inspections.
* Develop and maintain good working relationships across Barts Health NHS Trust, QMUL, Clinical Research Network (CRN) Management Team, and JRMO stakeholders.
* Offer advice and guidance to the research community on governance, contracts, study management processes, and related JRMO procedures.
Qualifications
* Essential: Degree or equivalent experience in research governance and/or conduct of research.
* Essential: Experience of clinical and/or NHS research management.
* Essential: Knowledge of governance and legislative framework for conducting clinical research studies.
* Desirable: Specialist knowledge of RM&G procedures; knowledge of NHS systems and structures for clinical research management.
Skills
* Proven interpersonal skills and ability to communicate complex information clearly.
* Strong analytical ability to interpret research management information.
* Ability to manage study setup and approvals; strong IT skills including Web applications and MS Office.
* Flexible approach with a desire to develop knowledge; attention to detail.
* Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Other
* Experience in preparing and delivering reports; contributing to training and guidance of researchers.
* Commitment to inclusive working practices and flexible working where applicable.
