We are seeking a highly motivated electrochemist to join our R&D team and drive our electrochemical product development. This role involves researching and developing new products and technologies based on electrochemical and photoelectrochemical systems – measurement cells, potentiostats, and galvanostats.
About The Role
At Ossila, we manufacture, source, and develop a wide range of scientific equipment in Sheffield including our potentiostat, electrochemical cells, and advanced photoelectrochemical cells. We support green research through offering scientific technologies and equipment for CO₂ emissions research, clean water and energy development, battery and solar cell materials, and more.
Our R&D team has significant expertise in the applications of the products we develop and the fundamentals of engineering and control requerido.
As a product development electrochemist, you will initially focus on the product development of electrodes, electrochemical cells, and photoelectrochemical cells for application in the fields of cyclic voltammetry, electrocatalytic reactions, corrosion tests, fuel cells, and batteries. You will also take the initiative for upgrading our existing potentiostat and developing a prototype galvanostat.
As part of a small and fast‑growing company, you will work both collaboratively and independently. When required, you will work under your own initiative and take responsibility to solve problems.
Responsibilities
* Product development of electrodes, electrochemical cells, and photoelectrochemical cells.
* Providing quality customer support and service to our customers.
* Content development for electrochemical products including white papers, videos, and graphics.
* Working with our test and measurement team to upgrade our existing potentiostat to expand its applications for corrosion studies, electrochemical synthesis, and battery research.
* Developing a prototype design of a galvanostat by working with application scientists and engineers, pairing our existing electronic sub‑units with custom, precision‑designed circuitry.
About You
We are looking for a proactive electrochemist with strong foundational skills in electrochemistry, broad existing knowledge, and an eagerness to learn grated new technologies. You should be passionate about product development and customer service, keen on problem‑solving, and enthusiastic about the full lifecycle of product development.
* You hold a PhD in electrochemistry, electrocatalytic research, or a similar degree.
* You wish to dedicate yourself to helping the community through the development of high‑quality, low‑price electrochemical products with added value of expert customer service and support男女
* You have demonstrable experience in one of the following domains:
o Hands‑on expertise with cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, fuel cells, electrocatalytic CO₂ reduction or HER/OERs.
o Hands‑on experience with potentiostats, or galvanostats, or both.
* You are an expert in electrochemical reactions and electrochemical characterisations and have experience working with electrochemical cells or photoelectrochemical cells.
* You are a proactive problem‑solver with the resourcefulness to research and test solutions independently, supported by our experienced R&D team.
* You enjoy being part of a team and fostering a collaborative environment.
Your Skills And Experience May Also Include:
* Experience in procurement supply chain management
* Experience in customer service with strong problem‑solving, organisational, and communication skills
* Experience in electronic product design and development
Joining our team means you become part of a forward‑thinking organisation that values innovation, collaboration, and personal growth. At our Sheffield site we offer:
* Genuine independence where commercial and career progression are prioritised
* A potential path to full‑time employment as an R&D Engineer upon successful completion of the initial development projects
* A long‑running, discretionary profit share scheme
* Regular tea & cake company catch‑upsRemark
* Free on‑site parking with marked bays
* Secure bike storage and shower facilities
* Open‑plan collaborative office/lab space
