Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a QRA-capable Risk Manager to join our busy and expanding Barrow-based Real Estate team, involved in high-profile construction projects.
Owing to the complex nature of the projects, this role is suitable for a Risk Manager with a construction or defence background, with proven experience and understanding of risk management processes.
Main Purpose of Role
Implement or support the implementation of an integrated risk management framework across a major construction programme. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Facilitating identification, assessment, and prioritisation of threats, opportunities, and issues within the sub-programme.
2. Maintaining visibility of threat/opportunity trigger points to facilitate risk cost profiling, timely risk budget management, or threat/opportunity retirement.
3. Using risk data to inform investment planning.
4. Assisting with the identification and recording of management responses, ensuring they are measurable and specific, and assessing post-mitigation positions.
5. Monitoring overall risk exposure and assessing it against the remaining risk budget.
6. Proactively managing the completion of management responses to deliver target positions.
7. Collaborating with contractors to assess risks they hold and their views on risks impacting them.
8. Producing risk reports to communicate threat and opportunity status effectively.
9. Conducting quantitative risk assessments (cost and schedule) to determine project contingency levels.
10. Demonstrating competence with tools such as PRA, @risk, Safran, or similar.
11. Familiarity with web-based database tools like ARM, Predict, Tableau.
Requirements
Candidates should demonstrate:
* Qualitative and quantitative risk assessment skills, and a working understanding of risk, cost, and schedule management on large programmes.
* Experience facilitating risk workshops, threat mitigation, and opportunity exploitation.
* Proficiency in probabilistic modelling (@risk, PRA, P6 or equivalent).
* Proven experience in risk management roles on major projects or programmes.
* Preferably, APM/IRM risk certification.
Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and a commitment to innovative working methods are essential.
Qualifications
* Degree in a construction-related subject is preferred.
* Proven experience in risk delivery on major construction projects or programmes.
* Security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain it is highly desirable due to the sensitive nature of the work.
