Overview
NHS Grampian invites applications for a Consultant Geriatrician (Fixed Term - 6 months). This role focuses on delivering high quality care for older people living with frailty in NHS Grampian, with a community-facing service oriented to the “home first” principle. The department operates an early Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment on a 25-bedded Geriatric Assessment Unit in the Emergency Care Centre at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and has established Hospital at Home services with plans to expand across Aberdeenshire. The post offers opportunities to tailor work to individual interests and to contribute to education, research, quality improvement, and service design.

Responsibilities
* Early Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment on the 25-bedded Geriatric Assessment Unit, working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Develop or contribute to area(s) of special interest (options include Community Geriatrics, Hospital at Home, Orthogeriatrics, Surgical & Medical Liaison, Rehabilitation, Parkinson’s disease).
Qualifications and Requirements
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practise (licence must be in place prior to starting).
* UK-trained applicants: evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from the date of interview.
* Alternatively, CESR / CESR (CP) holders are eligible.
* Willingness to work flexibly or less than full time; commitment to equality and diversity.
Support and Environment
The successful post holder will have ample non-clinical time in the job plan to support delivery against departmental ambitions. There are established links with the University of Aberdeen and an active research team led by the Clinical Chair in Medicine of Old Age.
