Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for drawing blood from patients for various laboratory tests, ensuring a comfortable experience while adhering to strict safety and hygiene protocols. The Phlebotomist will work closely with patients, medical staff, and laboratory personnel to facilitate accurate and timely testing.
Duties
* Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients between 18-64 years
* Maintain a high standard of aseptic technique to prevent contamination during blood collection.
* Accurately label and process specimens for laboratory analysis.
* Document patient information and procedures performed in accordance with medical protocols.
* Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care and communication.
* Provide education and support to patients regarding the blood collection process, alleviating any concerns or anxieties.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including infection control practices.
* Assist in laboratory tasks as required, utilising knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Qualifications

* Proven skills in phlebotomy techniques with an understanding of anatomy and physiology.
* Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to laboratory procedures.
* Experience in catheterisation is an advantage.
* Basic life support certification is preferred.
* Laboratory experience will be considered an asset.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff alike.
