Key Details:\n\nLocations: This post will be based in either or our 3 main hospitals University Hospital Wishaw, University Hospital Monklands and University Hospital Hairmyers.\n\nWage: Band 2 (£26,696 - £28,988)\n\nDuration: Fixed term post for 12 months starting from the 18th of August 2026 for 36 hours each week. Part-time hours available with pro-rata salary.\n\nEligibility: Applicants should be aged 16 to 24 years old on 1st of August 2026, (or up to 29 years for applicants who have a disability or those with care experience) are eligible. Must demonstrate proficiency at SCQF Level 5/National 5 level.\n\nMore information can be found in the job pack attached to the advert.\n\nWhat We Offer:\n\nTraining: Gain invaluable on-the-job training to develop a diverse range of healthcare procedures and skills.\n\nQualification: Work towards achieving a SCQF Level 6 Qualification in\u202FHealthcare Support with South Lanarkshire College, leading to a nationally recognised qualification.\n\nSupport: You will be well supported on this Modern Apprenticeship Programme with a dedicated workplace buddy, a Job Coach from the in-house Employability Team and regular networking sessions with other apprentices.\n\n Duties as a Healthcare Assistant may include:\n\n- Monitoring patients and performing basic health checks.\n\n- Helping patients eat their meals.\n\n- Assisting patients with getting up and going to bed.\n\n- Supporting patients with washing, oral care, bathing, and dressing.\n\n- Assisting with visits to the toilet or changing incontinence aids.\n\n- Caring for patients at the end of their lives.\n\n\nNo Prior Experience Necessary: This Modern Apprenticeship welcomes applicants with limited work experience, including school leavers.
