McCarthy Stone is the leading UK’s retirement living providers. We are recruiting a House Manager on a 1 year fixed term contract to join the team at our Southborough Gate development based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
Built in 2019, Southborough Gate is a Retirement Living development that consists of 43 apartments designed for the over 60s, providing excellent on-site facilities and set within beautiful grounds.
Hours: 30 hours per week - Monday to Friday. (We can be flexible around school hours)
Hourly rate: £21,490.34 per annum

About the Role of a House Manager
We are seeking a customer-centric House Manager to exemplify the high-quality customer standards we are renowned for. The key role of our House Manager is to enhance our Homeowners’ quality of life and enable them to maintain their independence. This diverse role includes high-level customer service, front of house duties, and facilities management. The successful candidate will build a strong community with homeowners through event coordination and regular meetings to report company updates and address residents’ priorities.
Some of the House Manager duties include:
* Welcoming new Homeowners and supporting their settling-in process.
* Providing professional front of house service and greeting all visitors warmly.
* Being the first point of contact for Homeowners, offering help, support, and advice as needed.
* Collaborating with partners and suppliers to ensure smooth estate operations.
* Representing McCarthy Stone to the families and friends of Homeowners.
* Handling Homeowners issues with sensitivity, confidentiality, and respect for privacy.
* Managing the gardens and grounds efficiently to provide a safe, secure, well-maintained, and pleasant environment.
* Facilitating social interactions and helping Homeowners enjoy retirement living fully.
* Ensuring compliance with all Health and Safety regulations.
The successful candidate will have the following key competencies:
* Excellent communication skills with a proactive “can do” attitude.
* Extensive experience in a professional customer service role.
* A professional approach with high standards of quality.
* Ability to thrive in a busy, varied role where each day is different.
* Resilience and effective problem-solving skills.
* Basic awareness of Health and Safety procedures, an advantage.
* Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
* First aid qualifications are advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
