Role Summary
Offer general assistance to the Practice team, project a positive image to patients and visitors (in‑person/telephone), receive and direct patients courteously, and provide administrative/clerical support (e.g., appointments, prescriptions, data entry) for smooth operations. Facilitate communication between patients, primary/secondary care and agencies.

The Purpose Of The Role Is To:
* Offer general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
* Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way
* Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the Practice including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the Practice team
* Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies

Job Responsibilities
* Opening and locking up practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with protocol
* Receive and direct patients and visitors promptly and courteously, ensuring accurate information is supplied
* Be aware of the practice philosophy and treat patients/visitors with respect and tolerance, offering constructive support to colleagues and the general public
* Maintain and monitor the practice appointments system with other reception team members
* Process appointments, including personal, telephone and online requests, ensuring patients are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
* Have working knowledge of the telephone systems (during and after hours) and maintain an appropriate telephone manner
* Register patients in accordance with practice guidelines
* Process repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
* Data entry, allocation and collation; process and record information per practice procedure
* Provide clerical assistance to staff as required, including word/data processing, filing, faxing, photocopying and scanning
* Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and emails
* Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, other team members, and associated healthcare agencies
* Deal with delegated tasks efficiently, reporting problems or targets reached as required
* Be aware of income‑generating activities, ensuring policies are carried out to generate a high income

Experience
* Front‑line/customer service experience (Essential)
* GP practice/NHS reception or administrative experience (Desirable)
