The Community Rehabilitation Service currently has an opportunity for an innovative and enthusiastic Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join their team. The Service is a multi‑disciplinary therapy team, providing assessment and rehabilitation in a community setting for those with a range of progressive or acquired neurological conditions. The work is community based; therefore you must be able to travel efficiently and effectively throughout the boroughs of Havering and Barking and Dagenham. The two sites are Yew Tree Resource Centre, Romford, RM7 9AA and Porters Avenue Health Centre, RM8 2EQ. The successful applicant will work from both sites to support junior staff and manage complex patients across the boroughs.
Main Duties of the Job
* Providing specialist occupational therapy assessment and treatment to patients with stroke and neurological conditions, taking into account the patient’s physical, cognitive and perceptual skills to identify abilities and areas of difficulty.
* Leading junior staff and support assistants through supervision, training and appraisal.
* Maintaining quality care through evidence‑based practice and adherence to national guidance.
* Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team across the Stroke and Neurology pathway, liaising and supporting therapy colleagues in the community as required.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period unless they are part way through a probationary period or are a bank member of staff.
High Cost Area Supplement
This post attracts a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary, with a minimum of £4,870 to a maximum of £6,137 per annum pro rata for part time.
